Iyengar-based Yoga classes with Lisa Norriss

If you look after the root of the tree, the fragrance and flowering will come by itself. If you look after the body, the fragrance of the mind and spirit will come of itself.- BKS Iyengar

About the Class
In a class with Lisa you will focus on your Yoga technique by lifting your self-awareness and working with a deep connection to the breath. The classes all begin with relaxation, which allows you to focus on your breath, dropping into your body and into the present moment. The group will then move through asanas (positions) that are suited to the needs of the class. The intensity of the class changes depending on the energy of the group so hopefully when you come to class you will leave feeling satisfied!

The benefits of Yoga are manifold. Some of these are: increased focus and concentration, centering, better alignment, reduced stress, gentle weight loss, better health and life-balance.

Lisa's classes are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners who are looking to connect more deeply with their practice.

Lisa is currently in India and will resume teaching upon her return, as of the 27th of March.

Lisa's Yoga Journey

Lisa began her Yoga training in 1999 in Christchurch under the tutelage of Iyengar teacher, Richard Tweedie, whilst she was studying Performing Arts. She was immediately taken with the practice and has since traveled to India twice to train with Pankaj Sharma on the banks of the Ganges river in Rishikesh.

Lisa teaches from an Iyengar base and has developed her own teaching style heavily influenced by her theatre training and her knowledge of the body.

Over the years she has been moved and motivated by the extent to which her students have appreciated their weekly practice and she looks forward to sharing Yoga with her new students here in Nelson.
